Clear ceramic braces are a more aesthetic option, meaning they blend in with the tooth. They’re white, they’re very aesthetic, however the wire is still silver so you can still see a tint of silver. We usually like to use those for our adult patients and then the traditional braces are silver with a silver wire but you still get to put a color over it.
I also like to say even with the clear braces you can still pick a color over it in case people want to be a little different and have a different look there too. Ceramic braces and traditional braces are both the same in comfort level, they’re just different materials. I like the clear ceramic braces for the patients that know they want to do Invisalign but know they don’t want to put the effort in, meaning a lot of people know beforehand that they’re not going to wear the Invisalign.
Because with Invisalign it takes a lot of discipline, you know when you eat you gotta take them off and then remember to put them back in. So the people that know they can’t do that, they always like to tend to do the clear braces because it’s still an aesthetic look but also has a full doctor control.
