I like traditional braces for my patients because it allows me to have control over the product and the outcome. With traditional braces, the patient has no responsibility. They’re able to just come to their office, enjoy their visits, rather than Invisalign where they’re responsible for putting on the trays, making sure everything’s being worn the right way.

With braces, the parents are more at ease because they know the results are going to be perfect because I’m in control of everything. They’re able to just come to their appointments, know that the best results are going to be achievable, and they don’t have to worry about their kids making sure they’re wearing the actual product. Braces range between 18 to 24 months usually, so a year and a half to two years, but a lot of cases can be short depending on cooperation with the patient, making sure they attend all their appointments.

Sometimes we can shrink those timelines down to a year and a half to a year. Braces are such an easy appointment to get on. We usually kick back the patient, let them relax.

They get to pick a movie or show. During the process, it only takes about 35-40 minutes for the whole braces to go on. We do go over some instructions.

We like to teach all our patients how to take care of their braces, what food to stay away from, how to take care of them and clean them, and then usually the experience is usually no pain at all. Once a patient gets their braces on, we like to see each patient in four to six weeks. My goal is to make the parent’s schedule as convenient as possible, so we work around patient’s schedule.

We know everyone can be busy, and we try to help everyone out with that. We do offer afternoon appointments, late evening appointments to help with parents who are at work, but we usually like to see everyone back in four to six weeks. The best part about braces is seeing the reaction of a patient once they come off.

You know, they’ve been in braces for two years. They haven’t really seen their teeth, and then once we clean everything up, clean the glue up, they’re able to see that instant transformation, and seeing the kids enjoy that means the best to us.
